Outdoor swimming pool opens May 26 for season
The city of Twinsburg's Outdoor Water Park will open for the season on May 26 at noon. Pool hours for the holiday weekend will be from noon to 7 p.m., through May 28. The pool will be closed May 29 through May 31, and re-open on June 1. Pool hours will be from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily through Aug. 12. Refer to the posted schedule for hours of operation for Aug. 13 through Labor Day. Season passes are discounted through May 25 only.
The fitness center staff wishes everyone a safe and happy Memorial Day weekend. Fitness center hours for the weekend will be: May 25 -- 5:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.; May 26 -- 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.; May 27 -- 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and May 28 from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. The fitness center will close at 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday evenings thereafter for the remainder of the summer.
New passes for college students are available
The fitness center announces a new pass available to full-time college students whose permanent address is within the Twinsburg School District. This annual pass entitles students to use the fitness center all summer and during college breaks, as well as visits home. The discounted rate is $100 if the student is attending a college more than 50 miles from Twinsburg, or $150 if the student is attending a college less than 50 miles from Twinsburg. Both full-time college status and school district residency proofs are required at the time of purchase.
Special summer membership introduced
All three-month individual memberships sold now through July 1 will have an expiration date of Sept. 30, so purchase early to get the most bonus days. Also, these memberships are eligible for conversion to an annual pass anytime before or on Sept. 30 for a special rate of $84. Details and restrictions are available at the fitness center's front desk.
Water safety instructor course offered
The American Red Cross water safety instructor course will be conducted at the fitness center from June 4 through 8, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Successful completion of this course certifies participants to teach learn-to-swim lessons for infant, preschool and school-age children. Minimum age is 16 years, and a swim test will be given on the first day of class. The F.I.T. certification prerequisite will be taught June 2 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at no additional charge. Cost is $155 for members, $175 for district residents and $200 for others.
Have fun playing indoor and outdoor games
Children ages 6 to 10 years will have fun at the fitness center gym playing indoor and outdoor games, relays, parachute fun and learning sport basics.
The event is conducted Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., June 5 through 21 and July 31 through Aug. 16. Price per session is $36 for members, $40 for residents and $45 for others. Register early for this popular class.

This class features a new summer theme each week with stories, games and crafts for 3 to 5 year olds. The two-hour sessions allow for indoor and outdoor games, music, movement and fun.
Class meets Wednesdays from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. and costs $30 per session for members, $35 for district residents and $40 for others. Sessions offered are May 30 through June 13 and Aug. 1 through Aug. 15.
Register for June
Black belt Reggie Brown teaches karate classes for ages 5 through adult on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday. Learn martial arts techniques, develop physical and mental discipline and get a great workout. No previous experience is required. Register now for classes beginning June 4. Monthly fees are $40 for members, $50 for district residents and $57 for others.
Get discounted rate for basketball camp
Eric Snow's "Shoot For the Moon" basketball camp returns to the fitness center, July 9 through 13 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.
This daily camp emphasizes skill development and fundamental drills taught by the pros for boys and girls ages 8 through 16 years.
Cost is $275 per camper, with discounts available if registered before June 4.
