Stow -- The Lakeview Intermediate School Fine Arts Festival will provide music, a presentation honoring the military and, of course, art.
The festival is scheduled for May 23 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Lakeview, 1819 Graham Road in Stow.
Parents and students are invited to walk through the building and view the student-created art on display.
Principal Kim Lockhart said the annual festival is a popular activity, stating he expects 400 to 500 individuals to attend the free event.
"The art will, basically, be [displayed from] the office on to the back hall by the gym," said Lockhart. "We will have paintings, we will have clay projects, we will have pencil reliefs and we will have stamps."
Additional entertainment will begin at 7, when the Lakeview Singers present "Songs of America" -- a choral review of patriotic songs -- in the gym, he said, stating the audience is welcome to sing along.
Lockhart said Stow Mayor Karen Fritschel will attend as the building's honored guest. Fritschel also will be the narrator of a presentation recognizing alumni who have served or who currently are serving in the military. Parents of students who are serving or who have served also will be recognized, he said.
"The patriotic songs are in recognition of the military," said Lockhart. "We try to offer support to our students who have family in the military."
He said the school's Club USA and K-Kids, under the supervision of guidance counselor Susan Deitrick, have prepared a PowerPoint presentation of photographs that will accompany the songs.
Lockhart said the names of the troops affiliated with Lakeview will be read aloud during the presentation.
"When we decided what songs to sing, one of the best things to do would be to have pictures," he said. "This is something we have stepped up."
Lockhart said he looks forward to the occasion each year.
"It will be a wonderful evening with the musical presentation and the art exhibit," he said.
