Memorial Day parade units will line up, beginning at 7:30 a.m. on May 28, in the State Road Shopping Center, one-half hour earlier than last year. The area will be closed beginning at 8 a.m. to regular traffic. Participants arriving from the south should take state Route 8 to Broad Boulevard, Parade Chairman Dave Sebastian recommends, and those arriving from the north should exit Route 8 at Graham Road and take it to the shopping center.

No parking will be permitted in the line-up area, so be prepared to drop off marchers, Sebastian says.

The parade is scheduled to kick off at 9 a.m. at Portage Trail and Lillis Drive. The parade will travel east on Portage Trail, then north on Fourth Street to Oakwood Drive.

Serving the dual roles as parade grand marshal and guest speaker for the subsequent ceremony at Oakwood Cemetery will be Jim Hermann, a retired colonel from the U.S. Army.

American Legion Post 281, 1601 Front St., is host post for this year's parade.

A ceremony will follow the parade at approximately 11 a.m. at Oakwood Cemetery.

There will be judges in review stands at Fourth and Stow streets. Trophies in general categories will be presented 45 minutes to one hour after the parade concludes in the semi-circle driveway in front of Falls High, 2300 Fourth St.
