Catholic churches

to celebrate ministry

More than 15,000 years of music ministry service to the Catholic Church will be celebrated and recognized Feb. 11 at Catholic churches throughout Summit County.

More than 800 musicians, cantors and choir members will receive a certificate signed by Bishop Richard Lennon at the weekend liturgies.

At 3 p.m. Jan. 28, the music makers will meet for a prayer service and reception at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Cuyahoga Falls.

Specially honored at the service will be the 61 men and women who have 50-plus years of service, including three who have served more than 70 years in music ministry:

* 76 years -- Eleanore Kuehne, Nativity of the Lord Jesus, Akron;

* 73 years --Andrew Kaman, St. Augustine, Barberton; and

* 70 years -- Helen Hoffman, Immaculate Heart of Mary, Cuyahoga Falls.
