Communion slated twice

The Church in Aurora will have two communion Sundays in August -- the 2nd and 30th -- because an outdoor service is scheduled for the first Sunday in September.

Circle 3H will meet Aug. 7 at 10 a.m. in fellowship hall to assemble backpacks for local students. On Sept. 19, a half-day Stephen Ministry worship will take place.

The Aurora Food Pantry needs crackers, syrup, pudding and fruit juice in the next month. The missions of the month are Center of Hope, Neighbor2Neighbor, One Church, CURE International and Mercy Ships.

Discipleship will be focus

Through Aug. 30, worship at Lord of Life Lutheran Church will focus on discipleship.

The new worship series titled "Follow Me: Discipleship Today" connects stories from the disciples' time to ways that modern people can live into these stories and be disciples.

Lord of Life worship services are Sundays at 8:15, 9:31 and 10:45 a.m. The church is at 17989 Chillicothe Road in Bainbridge.

Cookout planned Aug. 16

First Baptist Church's next family cookout will be Aug. 16 at 5 p.m. at Family Pastor Jeff Lowe's home. The Mayles hosted a cookout in July.

My First School's kickoff event for the year will be Aug. 22, when new parents and preschoolers will meet their teachers, see their classrooms and have some fun.

First Focus prayer meetings continue Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. Walks around the neighborhoods in the vicinity of the church take place weather permitting.

Bible school this weekend

Vacation Bible school is coming up Aug. 1 from 10 a.m. to noon at Aurora Mennonite Church, with a picnic following.

An elders meeting will take place tonight (July 29) at 6, with the youth group to gather at 6:30 and the young adult group at 7.

Donations of school supplies are being collected for Mennonite Central Committee, including 70- to 80-page notebooks, pencils, plastic bendable rulers, pink erasers and 12 packs of colored pencils.

Masses back at Our Lady

All Masses are scheduled to return to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church this weekend -- 4:30 p.m. Aug. 1 and 9 and 11 a.m. Aug. 2. Morning Masses July 29 and 30 will continue at the Church in Aurora.

Before and after Masses, members of the youth ministry group are taking head and shoulder shots of all members to use in a mosaic in honor of the church's 60th anniversary.

A few elementary grade teachers are needed for this year's religious education classes. If interested, contact Nancy Flanik or Mac Clapp. Completed forms from those wishing to participate in religious education are due by Aug. 10.

The faith formation committee will gather Aug. 3 at 7 p.m. and the stewardship committee at 7:15 p.m.

Chapel to host bike riders

Christ Community Chapel will provide dinner for the Fuller bicyclists who are coming through Aurora this weekend. The dinner will be July 31.

The Micah 6:8 golf outing will be Aug. 3 at Westfield Country Club to raise funds for Rahab Ministries, Restoration Chapel and South Street.

Young adults are needed to serve at Urban Vision on Aug. 15. A classic car cruise-in will be Aug. 15 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Hudson campus to benefit Rahab Ministries.
