Dianna Grant and Derek Monroe are residing in Athens, Ga. after their July 18 wedding at St. Joseph's Church in Athens.
The couple's parents are Steve and Fran Grant of Houghton Lake, Mich. and John and Katie Monroe of Aurora.
The Rev. David McGuinness officiated. The bride wore a one-of-a-kind dress designed and created by Monica Freng, one of the bride's sisters.
Carrie Garvin of Houghton Lake, the bride's best friend, was the maid of honor. Flower girls were Hailey Jones and Hannah Freng, nieces of the bride.
Bridesmaids were Bridgit Wilson of Madison, Ga., the bride's sister; Alison Monroe of Kaust, Saudi Arabia, the bridegroom's sister; and the bride's friends Emily Langdon of Atlanta, Morgan Ellberbee of Madison, Ga. and Laura Deal of Athens, Ga.
Friend of the bridgegroom Matthew Herring of Limerick, Ireland, was best man. Ringbearers were Zachary Best of Aurora, the bridegroom's cousin, and Max Klesney of Allendale, Mich., the bride's nephew.
Groomsmen were Josh Monroe of Silver Springs, Md. and Drew Monroe of Santa Cruz, Calif., the bridegroom's brothers; and friends of the bridegroom Ryan Larsen of Owings Mills, Md., Eric Freese of New York City and Adam Sasso of Augusta, Ga.
A reception took place at the Taylor Grady House in Athens.
The bride graduated from Morgan County High School in 2008 and the University of Georgia in 2013, and works for Fleet Feet Sports in Athens.
The bridegroom graduated from Western Reserve Academy in 2005 and Occidental College in 2009, and earned his master's degree from the University of Georgia in exercise psychology in 2011 and his PhD. in 2015. He is employed by Georgia College and State University.
The couple honeymooned in the western Caribbean Ocean.
