Parks department offering classes

Stow Parks and Recreation with the cooperation of the Stow-Munroe Falls School System provides an opportunity for residents to learn new skills, develop new hobbies and upgrade their educational level.

Microsoft Excel 2000 Under Windows 98 -- In this six-week mini-class, students will learn how to create, save, retrieve, revise and print worksheets.

Students also will learn how to format and enhance the worksheet, cut, copy and paste and insert rows and columns. Basic computer keyboard and mouse skills are required. The limit is 30 students.

The instructor will be Gaye Savory, and the class will meet Wednesdays from 6:30 to 9 p.m. from Jan. 31 through March 7.

The class will meet in Business Computer Lab B in Stow-Munroe Falls High School, 3227 E. Graham Road. The cost is $60, plus $1 for files on diskette, payable to the instructor.

Hunters education -- This class is a requirement for first-time hunters. It includes information about game use of hunting areas and the mechanics of gun and bows to make hunting safe. Outdoor practice in expert marksmanship is not included. Preregistration is necessary. The limit is 30 students. The instructor will be Gene Bosch, and the class will meet Thursdays from 6 to 9 p.m. from Feb. 1 through March 1.

The class will meet in the community room of the Stow Safety Building, 3800 Darrow Road. The cost is $5 per session.

Microsoft Word 2000 under Windows 98 -- In this six-week mini-class, students will learn how to create, save, retrieve and print a document, plus tools and techniques for polishing and correcting a document.

Basic typing skills are required, and there will be computer keyboard and mouse orientation included in first session. The limit is eight students. The instructor will be Gaye Savory, and the class will meet Thursdays from 6:30 to 9 p.m. from Feb. 1 through March 8. The class will meet in Business Computer Lab B in Stow-Munroe Falls High School, 3227 E. Graham Road. The cost is $60, plus $1 for files on diskette, payable to the instructor.

Herbal sachets -- Enjoy the fragrant use of herbs as sachets to use around the home during the winter months.

Students will receive a refreshing bath bag, moth repelling closet sachets, a sweet dreams sachet and potpourri sachets. Students should bring fabric and scissors. The instructor will be Cathy Manus-Gray.

The class is scheduled for Feb. 5 from 7 to 9 p.m. in Denning Lodge in Adell Durbin Park, 3300 Darrow Road. The cost is $20 for residents and $22 for non-resident, and the cost includes all materials.
