Mobile Meals Inc. delivers a hot meal each weekday to individuals in nutritional need in Summit County.
But with more than 150 referrals each month, it is becoming a real challenge for the organization to get those meals delivered.
With new clients being added daily, the demand for volunteers is greater than ever.
In addition, the winter months create a challenge of their own, since many regular volunteers head south.
Mobile Meals offers flexible volunteer opportunities. Participants can deliver meals right in their own community at a schedule they set for themselves -- once a week, once a month or anything in between.
Meals are delivered between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Monday through Friday. Those who work during the day can "Adopt-A-Route."
For example, an office can sign up to deliver a particular route once each week.
Employees then sign up in pairs or individually to take the route.
For more information on this and other Mobile Meals volunteer opportunities, call Janelle Arnold at 330-376-7717 or send an e-mail to email@example.com.
Nonprofit agency accepting vehicles
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Portage County are accepting vehicle donations to raise money for the organization.
Donors need the title to the vehicle, and will receive a tax deduction receipt.
Profits from the fundraiser are used to recruit and match adult volunteer mentors with local youth in a one-to-one mentoring program.
Money is raised by repairing and re-selling the vehicles, or by selling parts.
Volunteers will pick up vehicles in both Munroe Falls and Stow, as well as other local cities.
For more information about the donations, call Big Brothers Big Sisters at 330-296-6655.
The Chagrin Valley Choral Union invites members new and old to join them and music director Edward A. Shure for the group's spring concert.
