KIMBOLTON —John Novotny Jr., 78, of Kimbolton, died Monday (January 6, 2020) at his home.
He was born in Carmichaels, Pennsylvania to John Novotny Sr. and Mabel Charlotte (nee Phillips) Novotny, 11-7-41, John was always pleased to tell that his father’s birthday 7-11-14, was his birthday in reverse!
John is survived by his wife Rose Araminta Novotny (nee Decker). John and Rose met in Carmichaels and married April 25, 1964. They have three children, Barbara Sue Riddell (nee Novotny), son-in-law Ronald Clinton Riddell (deceased); Elizabeth Ann Novotny (Betsy); John Andrew Novotny and daughter-in-law, Rebecca Ann Novotny (Becca) (nee Tracy); ten grandchildren; Barbi’s children, Brielle Nicole Koenig; Dustin Michael Koenig (deceased), Meredith Allyce Jaramillo (nee Koenig) and her husband Chris Jaramillo; Betsy’s children Thaddeus Reed Novotny, (Tadd); Edward Andrew Stone(Eddie); Andrew and Becca’s children; Michael Alexander Kinney; Madelyn Jean Novotny; Addison Novotny; Chloe Novotny and Harley Novotny; and great-granddaughter, Carmella Araminta Jaramillo. John was preceded in death by his brother George Novotny (2000); George’s children; Leonard Novotny; George Novotny, Jr. his wife, Tess Novotny; Thomas Joseph Novotny (his children); and brother George’s daughters Christina Novotny and Andrea Novotny; Georgie’s son John R. Novotny (wife Sonny Jo); John has a sister Sue Ann Scarfpin (nee Novotny) (husband Ronald Roy Scarfpin (deceased); Susie and Ron’s son’s Ronald Scarfpin (wife Jackie); John Scarfpin, (Katie); James David Scarfpin; Todd Scarfpin (Chrissy) and their children. John’s sister in law; living in Carmichaels Pennsylvania, Mary Ann Lewis, husband William Franklin Lewis (deceased). Mary Ann and Bill’s eight children and numerous spouses and grandchildren, and great grandchildren; John and Rose’s nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews also much loved. John’s uncle George Novotny (Perkiomenville, PA) his children and grandchildren; Uncle Joseph Novotny (deceased) wife Elanor of Baton Rouge, LA; their son Billy Joe Novotny (deceased) and daughters Sharon and Julie and son in laws.
John graduated from Waynesburg College with a Bachelor’s in Chemistry and a minor in Mathematics. John moved to Cleveland, Ohio in 1963 following college, took a job with Addressograph Multigraph September 23, 1963, later returning to Carmichaels to marry Rose at her Aunt Ann’s home by the late Reverend Joseph Sabo. They set up household in Cleveland, April 25th, 1964 and later moved to Twinsburg, Ohio. In 1975 John took a job with Memorex in San Jose, California where he and Rose and their children lived for three years; then later hired by Hunt Chemical in Palisades Park, New Jersey. Hunt later relocated John and his family back to Cleveland where he and Rose lived, (Hudson, Ohio) until he retired in 1997. John and Rose worshipped at the Lutheran Church, first at Christ the King in Twinsburg Ohio; later in San Jose at the Christ the Good Shepherd and in Trinity Lutheran in Dover, NJ.
John and Rose built their dream retirement home in Kimbolton, Ohio in 1999, where they lived until his death. John and Rose are known to their friends and family as a match made in heaven, two love birds inseparable in life and death. Johnnie was a very loving daddy to his children and grandchildren AND great granddaughter who miss him dearly.
