The Tallmadge boys golf team finished 11th at the 15-team Nordonia Classic Tuesday at Ellsworth Meadows Golf Club in Hudson.
The Blue Devils posted a score of 358. Stow-Munroe Falls won the competition with a score of 307. Highland placed second with a 319 and Aurora and Kent Roosevelt finished in a tie for third (334).
Shaker Heights’ Robert Kimell earned medalist honors with a 69. Darin Hudak was the runner-up with a 71 to lead Tallmadge. Hudak finished with four birdies and hit 11 of 13 fairways. He needed just 29 putts.
"Darin’s even-par 71 was obviously a tremendous round of golf," Blue Devils head coach Jon Shomo said.
Caleb Fairhurst (93), Christian Rutan (95) and Logan Phillips (99) rounded out the team scoring for Tallmadge.
"Caleb had some trouble on the back nine after a solid front nine and his learning process continues," Shomo said. "He rushed a few short putts instead of marking the ball and taking his time. He is still making good progress.
"Christian returned to the lineup with a solid ball striking round, his best so far. Logan remains consistently around the 100 mark and Ty [Kester] shows signs of getting familiar with some of the subtle aspects of the game."
