MUNROE FALLS - James "Jim" D. Meeker, 89, of Munroe Falls and formerly of Cuyahoga Falls, passed away on May 2, 2019.

Jim was born in Elkhart, Indiana on May 20, 1929. He worked for Fred J. Crisp Inc. in Akron from 1968 until his retirement in 1994.

He married the former Lois Wilkinson on May 15, 1948 and they would have celebrated 71 years of marriage later this month. They have resided at Mulberry Gardens in Munroe Falls for the past four years.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Cuyahoga Falls, the Wesley Sunday School Class and the United Methodist Men's Wednesday Night Golf League for more than 40 years. He also bowled for many years with the church's bowling league and was a volunteer tutor at Newberry Elementary School through the former OASIS program.

In addition to his wife, Jim is also survived by sons, Steven (Renie) Meeker of New Castle, Delaware and Vince (Marty) Meeker of Akron; daughter, Marsha McKenna of Cuyahoga Falls; seven granddaughters; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Cremation has taken place. Friends are invited to visitation at Redmon Funeral Home, 3633 Darrow Road, Stow, on Saturday, May 18 from 3 to 4:30 p.m. A private memorial service is planned for the family. Memorial donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 245 Portage Trail, Cuyahoga Falls 44221.
