Community Baptist Church of Tallmadge, 274 N. Munroe Road, will host a "Healing Service" for Tallmadge and surrounding communities Aug. 8. The focus will be "The Heroin Epidemic."

Registration begins at 5 p.m. and the service will start at 6.

Those who have been personally touched by this plague are encouraged to take a photograph of their loved one to the service. Anointing will be available during the service for any need of healing. Prayer, genuine caring and empathy is needed for healing to take place. An offering will be accepted to assist in the cure.

Southeast Church of the Nazarene and Tallmadge Church of the Nazarene have partnered to offer a free joint Vacation Bible School for children in kindergarten through sixth grade. The program will be held on five consecutive evenings from 6:30 to 8 p.m. July 27 through 31 at 191 S. Munroe Road. The theme for the combined program is "Deep Sea Adventure."

The VBS will include a variety of activities for the children, including arts and crafts, songs, skits and group games all centered around a cast of loveable cartoon sea creatures who live in "Shellville."

Cut Ups Quilting Ministry -- Every Thursday afternoon the Cut Ups Quilting Ministry meets in the Fellowship Hall and make quilts that are distributed to military personnel stationed around the world. No previous experience is required and all materials and instruction provided.

Queen of Heaven Church will host a Vigil Mass for the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Aug. 14 at 4:30 p.m. The Mass on the feast day, Aug. 15, will be at 9 a.m.

FUNFest 2015 will take place on the church grounds Aug. 13, 14, 15 from 5:30 to 10 p.m. and Aug. 16 from 1 to 6 p.m. with a Car Show from 1 to 6 p.m. Admission is free. "Journey to Peace Bereavement Support," a ministry of information, consolation, spiritual and emotional support, will offer a free six-week series. For those of any faith having experienced the death of a loved one, the series will be held on six Mondays, beginning Aug. 24 (excluding Labor Day, Sept. 7) from 7 to 8:30 p.m in the gathering space. The ministry members strive to provide Christian support and guidance for daily living for anyone suffering grief, whether recent or lingering from the past.
