Wooster - The mother of a baby abandoned on the doorstep of a Messner Road couple has been identified and is not related to the missing Lake Township woman, according to Wayne County Sheriff Thomas G. Maurer.
Discovery of the child prompted locals to wonder if the little girl was the child of 26-year-old Jessie Davis, who is nine months pregnant and was last seen on June 13. Davis works at Allstate Insurance in Hudson.
Maurer on Friday said his office has identified a 30-year-old Franklin Township woman as the newborn's mother.
The baby was found on the back porch of Don and Sue Redman Monday night after the two returned home from dinner.
