Hudson resident Matt Williams, a junior on the Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy wrestling team, finished second in the 126-pound weight class at the 58th annual Brecksville Holiday Invitational Wrestling Tournament, which took place Friday and Saturday.

He pinned third-seeded Lucas Uliano of Olentangy Liberty in 5 minutes, 41 seconds in the quarterfinals. Uliano placed third at the Iowa state tournament last winter.

Williams earned a 2-1 overtime victory against second-seeded Cole McComas of Beaver Local in the semifinals. McComas is a two-time state runner-up.

Williams lost a 6-0 decision to Brecksville-Broadview Heights’ Jimmy Carmany, who placed fourth at the 2018 Division I state tournament.

The Royals finished sixth out of 51 teams with 131 points.
