If the rest of the season is anything like Thursday night’s game, it could be a fun season for the Aurora boys basketball team.
The Greenmen made a smashing 2018-19 debut after posting a thrilling 71-70 victory over former Chagrin Valley Conference rival West Geauga in Chesterland.
Aurora outscored the Wolverines 23-22 in an entertaining final eight minutes.
Ethan Hays, who led the Greenmen with 22 points, found Jack Arnold for the game-winning basket with six seconds left.
Cooper Bizjak finished with 13 points for Aurora and Gabe Elsawy and Arnold contributed nine and eight points, respectively, for the Greenmen.
Peyton Bissler led the Wolverines with a game-high 33 points and Josh Irwin added 22 points for West Geauga, which made 11 of 12 foul shots and did not get more than four points from anyone else.
