David gave Goliath all he could handle.

In the end, though, the Tallmadge football team’s David could not subdue Barberton’s Goliath.

The host Magics pulled away in the second half en route to a 42-21 victory over the Blue Devils Friday at Rudy Sharkey Stadium.

Barberton improved to 8-0 overall and 4-0 in the Suburban League American Conference. Tallmadge dropped to 4-4 overall and 2-2 in the conference.

After a 31-yard touchdown pass by Sam Seeker to Luke Thomas, the Blue Devils cut their deficit to 28-21 with 5 minutes, 31 seconds left in the game.

Tallmadge didn’t get any closer, thanks to Barberton’s standout running back.

Kyree Young continued his stellar season with four touchdowns, including two back-breaking scores (17 and 89 yards, respectively) in the final four-plus minutes.

Seeker had all three touchdowns for the Blue Devils. He completed a 63-yard scoring pass to Josh McGhee in the first quarter and a 36-yard TD pass to Richie Eyre in the third.

Seeker completed 12 of 27 passes for 235 yards and also ran 15 times for 81 yards. Eyre had three receptions for 70 yards.
