The Western Reserve Academy volleyball team hasn’t had a whole lot of success this fall.
However, the Pioneers can say something few high school teams can say as their season came to a close Thursday.
Reserve won its final match of the season.
WRA finished 7-14 in 2018 after earning a 25-10, 25-18, 30-28 victory over host Mentor Christian.
The Pioneers needed some theatrics to close it out.
Down 24-18, Reserve’s Micayla Brent took her turn behind the service line. The four-year senior standout, who has played just about every position since she joined WRA, went on to score the next six points on her serve to tie the match. Brent finished with 12 aces to lead the Pioneers.
Libero Natalie Ham finished with nine digs and Allison Weinzierl and senior Dria Smith-Lash added six and five kills, respectively. Smith-Lash also had four blocks.
