Tallmadge sophomore Darin Hudak’s stellar season came to an end Monday.
Hudak shot a 78 during a Division I district tournament at Pine Hills Golf Club in Hinckley. He finished in a tie for 30th place. A total of 120 golfers competed.
The top four golfers not on qualifying teams advance to the state tournament.
Hudak started on the back nine made the turn with a 38.
"Darin and 119 other Northeast Ohio qualifiers played a tough course on a very warm and windy day," Blue Devils head coach Jon Shomo said. "Darin started on the back nine, which played to a par 35 (Tuesday) due to hole No. 10 being shortened to a par 4.
"He made the turn at 38, ran into trouble on No. 1 with a double bogey and finished the front nine in 40.
"The district tourney is a different atmosphere than any other event we play: more golfers, more spectators, more media. He handled all of that remarkably well. It will serve him well as his high school career continues.
"Darin represented our team, our school and our community extremely well, not just (Tuesday) but all season long. We are fortunate to get to do this for two more seasons."
