Stow-Munroe Falls football’s early season road trip made a stop at Ashland University Friday, as the Bulldogs took on Hilliard Bradley High School at Jack Miller Stadium.
It was a much tighter affair than week one, but Stow is still looking for the first win of the Tom Phillips Era.
A fourth-quarter touchdown by Bradley proved the difference as Stow fell 20-19 to the Jaguars.
Missed extra points played a crucial role in the loss for Stow, including one after Bryce Shepperd scored a touchdown on his first touch of the season.
Stow took a 13-0 lead when quarterback Josh Andreassy hit Dalen Stovall with a touchdown pass, only to see Bradley score twice to take a 14-13 lead at the half.
Stow retook the lead on a 2-yard touchdown run from J.R. Atkinson midway through the third quarter, but a missed two-point conversion made it 19-14.
Bradley scored the go-ahead touchdown with eight minutes remainng, but missed a two-point conversion of its own.
Stow had a chance to win it with 1:14 left in the game, but kicker Chris Miller’s field-goal attempt was wide right.
Stow’s travels continue next Friday when the Bulldogs visit Solon at 7 p.m.
