The Hudson boys golf team’s unbeaten record in conference dual meets was in serious jeopardy.

Fortunately for the Explorers, a freshman came to the rescue.

Host Hudson improved to 3-0 in the Suburban League Natioan Conference after earning a 207-208 victory over North Royalton on the front nine at the Country Club of Hudson.

The match was decided on a fifth-man tiebreaker. The Explorers’ fifth man, freshman Andrew Yard, shot a 44 and sealed the deal with a 3 1/2-foot putt  on the ninth hole.

Hudson’s Ben Basta and the Royals’ Jacob Frey each shot a 38 to share medalist honors. Basta made birdies on the final two holes.

Cooper Pamer was next for the Explorers with a 40 and Burke Villenauve added a 42. Erik Block shot a 44 for Hudson.
