Malachi Collier, a rising eighth-grade student at Kimpton Middle School and a member of the Shaker Heights Feet on F.I.R.E. track and field team, recently competed at the Amateur Athletic Union Junior Olympics.

The Junior Olympics track and field competition took place July 30 to Aug. 4 at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.

Collier ran the 100 and 200-meter hurdle races and was a member of the 400 and 1,600 relay teams. He earned medals in three of those events to earn All-American status for the fifth year in a row.

Collier finished seventh in both the 100 and 200 hurdle races and his 1,600 relay team placed sixth.

Collier was a state qualifier during the spring for Kimpton.
