It certainly wasn't a bad performance.
But if the Hudson boys golf team wants to get at least a piece of the conference title, it will have to shave a few more strokes later in the season.
The Explorers finished third in the eight-team National Conference with a score of 323 at the Suburban League preseason tournament Thursday at J.E. Good Park Golf Course in Akron.
Stow-Munroe Falls won the competition with a score of 309 and North Royalton placed second with a 322.
Stow's Kyle Buzaki shot a 73 to earn medalist honors.
Ben Basta led Hudson with a third-place tying score of 76.
Cooper Pamer was next for the Explorers with a personal-best score of 78.
Also contributing to the team score were Erik Block (84) and Connor Rubin (85).
"It was another decent performance," Hudson head coach Dave Kurtz said. "We just just outplayed by Stow and North Royalton.
"Slow start by all and three or four major mistakes cost us. We will be working on punch shots quite a bit in the near future."
