Hudson graduate Maria Russell recently concluded a stellar career as a member of the Ohio (Athens) University women’s field hockey team.
She earned first-team All-Mid-American Conference honors in 2015 and was a second-team pick in 2016 and 2017.
Russell also was named a Distinguished Scholar Athlete in 2015, 16 and 17 and was a Division I National Academic Squad choice in 2014, 15, 16 and 17.
She was an All-Academic MAC pick in 2015, 16 and 17 and was a Scholar Athlete of the week three times and a a MAC Player of the Week twice.
Russell recently was selected to the USA International field hockey team. Other awards Russell received were the Gladiator Award in 2014 and the Presidential Award (2017-18).
She was a member of the dean’s list in 2015, 16 and 17 and was awarded the Pauline and Roger D. Humphrey Education Scholarship.
Russell graduated cum laude from the Gladys W. and David H. Patton College of Education at Ohio University, majoring in early childhood education.
Russell is currently attending graduate school at Ohio University on a fellowship at Trimble (Glouster) Ohio Schools, majoring in administration education to complete her master’s degree.
