Three times in the last four years, the Hudson Rugby Club girls team reached the ultimate stage.

All three of those times ended with heartbreak and disillusionment.

Not this time.

Hudson captured its first-ever state title after cruising to a 31-5 victory over Cincinnati Walnut Hills in the Division I state championship contest.

The match took place Saturday at Fortress Obetz Stadium in Columbus.

Clara Lemal-Brown had two tries and Maia Breeden, Samira Colbert and Dawn Falokun each contributed one try for Hudson.

Lucy Marshall added two conversions and Maia Breeden finished with one conversion for Hudson, which finished 10-4 in 2018.

To top it all off, Lemal-Brown was named Ms. Rugby Ohio.

Hudson was defeated by powerhouse Cleveland St. Joseph Academy in its three previous state championship contests. Hudson defeated St. Joseph 34-31 earlier in the season.
