AKRON — Woodridge High’s Caitlin Raid tossed a six-inning one-hit shutout, striking out 13, to lead the Bulldogs past Chagrin Falls 10-0 in the Division II district semiifnals at Firestone Stadium on Thursday night.

The victory advances the Bulldogs (13-10) into the championship game at 6 p.m. Friday against Crestwood. The Red Devils defeated Revere 14-9 in the other semifinal game on Thursday.

Raid (13-7) struck out the side in the first, fourth and fifth innings. The only hit she surrendered was a seeing-eye single just past the third-base bag by Alexis Christie with one out in the second inning. The only other base-runner Raid allowed was leadoff hitter Allie Kovatch, who reached on an error in the third inning. Raid then retired the last 10 batters she faced, including six by strikeout.

Sage Jenkins led the Woodridge attack with three hits, including two doubles, and three RBIs. She also scored twice, Sydney Shaheen and Brayden Wigal both had two singles and scored twice, while Emily Mally had a pair of hits.

The Bulldogs took a 2-0 lead in the first inning on back-to-back doubles by Shaheen and Jenkins and McBride’s RBI singles. Mally’s bloop single scored Wigal in the second to make it 3-0.

Woodridge scored three times in the fourth on a RBI single by Shaheen and a two-run double by Jenkins. The Bulldogs added two runs in the fifth and two in the sixth to conclude the game.
