The Hudson boys track and field team is in seventh place with 10 points after the first day of the 11-team Nordonia Division I district meet Wednesday at Boliantz Stadium in Macedonia.

The competition is scheduled to resume Friday at 3:30 p.m.

Sam Bashian placed third in the discus with a throw of 146 feet, 10 inches.

Noah Beseda finished sixth in the pole vault with a vault of 12 feet and Dawson Wervey captured eighth in the long jump with a leap of 19-8.

The top four athletes in each event and top four relay teams advanced to the regional competition, which is scheduled to take place next Wednesday and May 25 at Austintown-Fitch High School. The competition is set to begin at 5 p.m. both days.

Qualifying for Friday’s finals are the 800 relay team of Zack Rickey, Isaac Hall, Samoid Reed Jr. and Nivash Jayaram; the 400 relay team of Dominic LaMarca, Rickey, Jacob Clary and Jayaram; Wervey in the 400 and the long jump; Lucas Lay and Luke Good in the 800; and the 1,600 relay team of Lay, Luke Good, Clary and Wervey; and Bashian in the discus.
