The stage is now set.

If the Hudson baseball team wins its conference finale, the Explorers will get at least a share of the Suburban League National Conference title.

The Explorers put themselves in position to win a championship, thanks to their performance Friday.

Host Hudson posted a 5-3 victory over host Twinsburg at Dodge Middle School. With the win, the Explorers improved to 15-9 overall and 8-5 in the conference. Stow-Munroe Falls, which split its two games with Hudson earlier in the season, also has five losses in conference play.

The Explorers are scheduled to entertain the Tigers next Wednesday at The Ballpark at Hudson. First pitch is set for 4:30 p.m.

Right-hander Ethan Samangy pitched 4-? innings to improve to 5-0 in 2018. He finished with four strikeouts and two walks and allowed one earned run.

Right-hander Bryce McClure threw the final 1-? innings to pick up the save.

Hudson had a 5-0 lead before Twinsburg scored a run in the fifth and two more in the sixth.

The Explorers finished with eight hits and one error. The Tigers had seven hits and no errors.

Nolan O’Connell led Hudson’s offense with two hits, including a triple, two RBIs and a run scored.

Matt Mileski added a single and two runs scored for the Explorers.
