The Aurora baseball team has experienced its peaks and valleys throughout the season.
However, the Greenmen will have at least one more meaningful game penciled on their schedule.
Third-seeded Aurora posted an 11-5 victory over sixth-seeded Pepper Pike Orange in a Euclid Division II sectional title game Wednesday at Ed Sherwin Field.
With the win, the Greenmen (8-10) earned a date with second-seeded Woodridge in a Division II district semifinal game next Tuesday in Euclid. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
The Bulldogs advanced with a 10-1 win over seventh-seeded Ravenna.
Aurora took control against the Lions with a five-run second inning to take a 6-1 lead.
Orange scored four runs in the fifth to cut its margin to 8-5, but the Greenmen responded with a run in the bottom of the fifth and two more in the sixth.
Aurora finished with 12 hits and one error. The Lions had six hits and three errors.
Right-hander Michael Sapp pitched the final 4-? innings in relief to get the win. He allowed just one earned run and finished with four strikeouts and four walks.
Will Carpenter led the Greenmen offense with four hits, including a triple, three runs scored and an RBI.
Jacob Blue added two hits, including a double, three runs scored and two RBIs and Evan Fromwiller had two hits, including a double, and three RBIs for Aurora.
Also getting two hits for the Greenmen was Carter Gerbrick, who had a double, two runs scored and an RBI.
