The Hudson girls track and field team finished in a tie with Shaker Heights for ninth place with 36 points at the Second Sole Eagle Elite Invitational Saturday at GlenOak High School in Canton.
Strongsville won the competition with 63.5 points. Medina (58) and GlenOak (53) placed second and third, respectively.
Emily Akin led the Lady Explorers with a first-place time of 2:18.27 in the 800-meter race. She broke Medina’s Juliette Keller’s 2017 record of 2:20.07.
Akin also joined Sydney Gallagher, Brynn Strawbridge and Kalli Barrett on the fourth-place 1,600 relay team (4:12).
Molly Stecker was the runner-up in the high jump. She reached a height of 5 feet, 4 inches.
Teammate Brynn Meyer placed sixth (5 feet).
Gallagher finished fifth in the 300 hurdles in 50.41 seconds and Cecily Merrick captured fifth in the pole vault (8 feet).
Taylor Miller took sixth in the long jump with a leap of 14-9.
Tori Shriver finished eighth in the 100 hurdles in 16.61 seconds. Also placing eighth was the 400 relay team of Ang Giaimo, Jenna Kara, Jenna Reitenbach and Abby Petty (52.08).
