The profile for Stow-Munroe Falls girls lacrosse has been growing in recent years and the Bulldogs are sending three of their best onto the next level.

Stow seniors Gwen Shehorn, Emma Workman and Grace Deegan each committed Wednesday to continue their academic and lacrosse careers in college. Shehorn committed to Palm Beach Atlantic University — a Division II college in West Palm Beach, Fla. — while Workman committed to John Carroll University in University Heights and Deegan committed to Franciscan University of Steubenville.

Shehorn becomes the second memeber of Stow’s Class of 2018 to commit to Palm Beach Atlantic, as she will join soccer player Sophia Boris in playing for the Sailfish. Shehorn carries a 3.6 grade-point average at Stow, will study biology at PBA and will play at attack for the Sailfish.

Shehorn said he also had considered attending Ohio State and Florida Atlantic University.

"I just really liked the school," Shehorn said. "It was perfect for me."

Workman, who broke the 100-goal mark earlier this season for Stow, will move play at midfield for John Carroll as she will concentrate on draws. Workman carries a 4.2 GPA at Stow and plans to major in biology/pre-dentistry at JCU.

Workman said she considered attending Ohio State for academics and also got offers to play lacrosse at Kent State University, Gannon University and Slippery Rock University.

"I just love the school," Workman said of JCU. "The coaching staff is great and I really love the team."

Meanwhile, Deegan commits to the Franciscan University of Steubenville, an NCAA Division III college, after considering Gannon and Walsh University.

Deegan carries a 4.1 GPA at Stow, plans to major in English and theology at FUS and will play attack for the Barons.

Deegan said lacrosse was not the determining factor in her decision to choose FUS.

"I wanted to go there for the Catholic environment," Deegan said. "There are some really great human beings there. Academics played a big role in it too."
