It took much longer than expected, but the Tallmadge baseball team picked up its first win of the season.
The Blue Devils posted a lopsided 17-1 victory over Theodore Roosevelt Tuesday in Kent. The game was called after five innings due to the 10-run mercy rule.
Tallmadge (1-4) scored five runs apiece in the second and fifth innings, respectively, and finished with 15 hits and one error.
The Rough Riders had five hits and two errors.
Phil Glasser had two hits, including a double, and six runs batted in. Seth Gergely had a single, stole two bases and drove in three runs and Jake Rensel had three hits, including a double, and three runs scored.
Andrew Ayres contributed two hits and scored three runs and Rich Eyre had two singles and two runs scored.
Also faring well for the Blue Devils was Sam Seeker, who had a single, two runs scored and two RBIs.
Right-hander Jared Burick picked up the win on the mound. He struck out five batters and walked one in five innings of work.
