The Aurora ice hockey team’s Baron Cup experienced lasted one day.
The third-seeded Greenmen lost to second-seeded Parma Normandy 4-2 in the opening round of the Baron Cup III Tournament.
The contest took place Thursday at the John M. Coyne Recreation Center in Brooklyn.
Aurora took a 1-0 lead in the first minute of the second period when Tomi Pirinen found the net off an assist from Patrick Murray.
The Invaders tied the game, but Aurora regained the lead when Jack Pfiffner scored off an an assist from Maxx Goldston.
It remained 2-1 Greenmen until Normandy scored three times in the third period. The Invaders scored the go-ahead goal with two minutes left and then added an empty-netter.
Aurora goaltender Jordan Smith made 24 saves.
The Greenmen are scheduled to play Twinsburg in the opening round of the Kent district tournament Wednesday at Kent State University Ice Arena. Play is set to begin at 7:30 p.m.
The two teams met three times during the regular season. The Tigers won the first matchup 7-4 Dec. 3 and then played to a 2-2 draw Jan. 27.
Aurora defeated Twinsburg 4-2 last Saturday.
