Wrestlers fall to
conference rival Copley
The Tallmadge wrestling team fell to 3-5 overall and 0-3 in the Suburban League American Conference after losing to Copley 42-21 Jan. 4 on the road.
Jesse Kanatzar and Richie Eyre earned first-period pins at 160 and 170 pounds, respectively, for the Blue Devils.
Cody Lombardi posted an 8-6 win at 132 pounds and Nate Amato won by forfeit at 182 pounds for Tallmadge.
Tallmadge is scheduled to host conference rival Theodore Roosevelt Jan. 11 at 6 p.m. before heading to Firestone High School in Akron for the Bill Dies Invitational Jan. 12 (4:30 p.m.) and 13 (9 a.m.).
The Blue Devils are set to visit Barberton for a conference tri-match that also features Aurora Jan. 18. Wrestling is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
Tallmadge is set to compete at the Josh Hephner Memorial Invitational Jan. 19 (1 p.m.) and 20 (11 a.m.).
Tallmadge grad to
play pro football
Tallmadge graduate Bryon Cook recently signed a contract to play for the Cedar Rapids (Iowa) Titans of the Indoor Football League.
The standout wide receiver is a 2016 graduate of Baldwin Wallace University in Berea. He played football all four of his years with the Yellow Jackets.
