With talents such as Andy and Wesley Smith, Charlie and Steve Straka, Austin Schiele, Kyle Mau and Gavin Gaynor, the Hudson boys track and field team has been a perennial state contender in the distance races.
The Explorers added one more name to that talented list June 3.
His name is Blake Roberts.
The standout senior concluded a stellar career with a 10th-place time of 8 minutes, 27.81 seconds in the 3,200-meter race at the Division I state track and field meet at The Ohio State University's Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium in Columbus.
Roberts was two places away from All-Ohio honors. The top eight athletes earned a trip to the podium.
Walsh Jesuit senior Jack Francetic, a Hudson resident, finished in a tie for 10th place in the pole vault with a vault of 14 feet.
