The Cuyahoga Falls boys track and field team was in eighth place with 11 points in the National Conference after the first day of the Suburban League Championships May 9 at Nordonia High School's Boliantz Stadium in Macedonia.

Eric Rosiak led the Black Tigers with a third-place leap of 20 feet, 4.5 inches in the long jump.

The 3,200-meter relay team of Jay Wilson, Kyle Wilson, Jack Wilcoxson and Bronson Luksza placed fourth with a time of 8 minutes, 21.98 seconds.

Qualifying for finals was Jacob Strausser in the 200 and 400 races.

The Suburban League Championships were scheduled to conclude May 11. Results were not available at press time.

Falls finished second with 76 points at the 43rd annual Bulldog Relays May 5 in Olmsted Falls.

North Royalton won the six-team competition with 107 points and Olmsted Falls took third with 74 points.

Bronson Luksza won the 1,600 in 4:39.36.

Luksza also was the anchor on the winning 6,400 relay team (19:12).

Joining him were Wilcoxson, Anthony Nichols and Kyle Wilson.

The Black Tigers triumphed in one field event.

Jay Wilson and Rosiak both jumped 5-6 to finish in a tie for first place. Also on the winning relay was Tanner Treptow. The trio combined for 16 feet.

Freeman was the overall winner in the discus with a throw of 118-3.

Joining him on the third-place relay were Oscar Figueroa and Blake Ross. They combined for a total of 326-6.

The 3,200 relay team of Jay Wilson, Andrew Kuntz, Kyle Wilson and Wilcoxson placed third (9:19.58).

The 400 relay team of Noah Dunaj, Scott Smith, Kenneth Pamer and Jordan Williams finished third in 48.44 seconds.

The 800 sprint medley team of Dunaj, Pamer, Strausser and Campbell captured third (1:41.64).

Also taking third for the Black Tigers were the distance medley team of Kuntz, Sondles, Tommy Hillyer and Nichols (11:52.9) and the shuttle-hurdle team of Jordan Williams, Gibson, Mike Brustowski and Brady Warner (1:15.17).

The 800 relay team of Pamer, Dylon Campbell, Tony Sondles and Strausser took fourth (1:39.81).

Also placing fourth (3:52.47) was the 1,600 relay of Dunaj, Campbell, Sondles and Rosiak.

Strausser captured fourth in the 100 in 12.07 seconds and Tyler Gibson placed fifth (19.57) in the 110 hurdles.

Falls is scheduled to compete at a Division I district meet May 17 and 19 at Boliantz Stadium. The competition is set to begin at 4 p.m. both days.
