Photos on May 13
The Aurora Baseball League's photo day will be May 13, with the first session at 9 a.m. and the final session at 1:15 p.m. in the Harmon School commons. Individual pictures will be taken first, followed by team pictures. Players should arrive 10 to 15 minutes before the allotted times. The first ABL wing-ding fundraiser will be May 19 from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Aurora Inn. There will be a silent auction, 50/50 raffle, corn-hole tournament, various lawn games, music and fun.
A cash bar will be available along with a variety of wings and other heavy appetizers. Tickets will be handed out by each player's coach. The cost is $15 per ticket or $30 for a ticket plus raffle and corn-hole tournament entry. Each player is required to sell a minimum of two tickets.
With a wet spring regular season almost over, Aurora High teams are entering postseason play.
The softball team is scheduled to host a Division I sectional tournament game today (May 10) against either Austintown Fitch or Kenston, while the baseball team is slated to do likewise against either Shaker Heights or Cleveland John Hay on May 12.
The track and field district meet will be May 17 and 19 at Austintown Fitch. The boys tennis team was slated to compete in the sectional tournament on May 9.
Kent State shines
The Kent State University baseball team opened up a two-game in the overall Mid-American Conference standings after a weekend sweep of East Michigan. The Golden Flashes are 15-3 in the MAC and 31-13 overall, and are on a five-game winning streak. The team will close on the regular season this weekend with a home series against Miami of Ohio.
Meanwhile, KSU's softball team stands 15-9 in the MAC and 27-25 overall after 2-0 and 8-0 victories over Bowling Green on May 7. The squad will open MAC tourney play today (May 10) against Ball State at Firestone Stadium in Akron.
Miller a member of top v-ball unit
Aurora resident Jordan Miller was a member of the Ignite team (a Christian volleyball club based in Twinsburg) that won the won the Force volleyball tournament in Eastlake Ohio on April 30.
The team defeated Southwest Pa., Buckeye Fire, Vertical Force Stevens and Club Gold to advance to the finals. Against Vertical Force Roberts, Ignite lost the first set 25-18 and won the second 25-19, then was down 14-11, but rallied to win 17-15.

Aurora resident Mark Muroski placed second in the men 60-64 age group at the recent Jog Into Spring 5K. HIs time was 32:14.5.
Mariam Fahmy placed first in women 12-14 at the Tri-C Spring Into Fitness 5K. Her time was 29:06.3, while Haidy Kamel was second in women 40-44 in 39:12.8.
