The seventh-seeded Stow-Munroe Falls softball team advanced to a Barberton Division I sectional title game after posting a lopsided 14-1 victory over 10th-seeded Cuyahoga Falls May 9 at Weddle Park.
The game was called after 4-1/2 innings due to the 10-run mercy rule. With the win, the Lady Bulldogs are scheduled to visit second-seeded Wadsworth May 10 on the road. First pitch is set for 4:30 p.m.
Stow batted around in both the first and second innings, respectively.
The Lady Bulldogs (10-11) scored six runs in the first, seven in the second and one in the third. The Lady Black Tigers scored their only run in the third.
Stow had 17 hits and no errors and Falls had three hits and one error.
Lady Bulldogs' right-hander Macie Bell pitched the first four innings to get the win.
Falls' starting right-hander Cynthia Stanfield lasted just a third of an inning. She was relieved by left-hander Tori Rogers in the first.
Shortstop Brittany Hoopingarner had three hits, including a double, three runs batted in and two runs scored for the Lady Bulldogs.
Catcher Kenedi Cesnak also had three hits, including a double, two RBIs and a run scored for Stow.
Bell added two singles and four RBIs and third baseman Hanna Ingram had two hits, including a double, two runs scored and an RBI.
Also contributing two hits apiece for the Lady Bulldogs were first baseman Lindsey Houck, who had two RBIs and a run scored, and right fielder Rachel Mosko, who drove in a run and scored a run.
Second baseman Jenna Stout had a run-scoring single and two runs scored and center fielder Claire O'Verko had a single and two runs scored for Stow.
Shortstop Brianna Andexler had two hits and an RBI to lead the Lady Black Tigers. Right fielder Annah Bobbitt had the other hit for Falls.
