The host Tallmadge softball team suffered its first Suburban League American Conference loss of the season in heartbreaking fashion.

The Lady Blue Devils dropped to 5-3 overall and 3-1 in the American Conference after falling to Highland 8-3 in eight innings April 12.

The Lady Blue Devils had a 3-1 lead after six innings, but the Lady Hornets rallied.

Tallmadge had nine hits and two errors. Highland finished with seven hits and one error.

Right-hander Emily Pratt, who entered the game in the fifth inning, took the loss for the Lady Blue Devils. Starting left-hander Hallie Mullett allowed just one run and two hits in four innings of work.

Gia Spitali had two hits, including a home run, two runs batted in and a run scored for Tallmadge.

Olivia Carey added two hits, an RBI and a run scored and Delanie Dadich had two hits for the Lady Blue Devils.

Brittney Fleischer had two hits, including a double, two RBIs and a run scored and Hannah Griffen had two hits, including a double, and a run scored for the Lady Hornets.

Alex Chorba had a home run for Highland. She finished with two RBIs.

Fleischer got the win in the circle. She pitched all eight innings and had 11 strikeouts. Fleischer did not issue a single free pass.

Host Tallmadge posted a 6-1 victory over American Conference rival Revere April 10.

The Lady Blue Devils scored five runs in the bottom of the first inning and one run in the fourth. The Lady Minutemen scored their lone run in the third.

Tallmadge had 10 hits and two errors. Revere had six hits and two errors.

Pratt got the win in the pitcher's circle. She allowed four hits in four innings of work. She struck out three batters and walked one. Mullett pitched the last three innings.

Spitali had two hits, two RBIs and a run scored to lead the Lady Blue Devils.

Jordyn Severns added two hits and a run scored and Dadich had a double, two RBIs and a run scored for Tallmadge.

Autumn Malicoat had a triple and an RBI for the Lady Blue Devils.

Tallmadge was scheduled to visit American Conference foe Aurora April 13 before heading to Firestone Stadium in Akron to play Green and Field April 14 and Madison April 15. Results of those games were not available at press time.

The Lady Blue Devils are set to host American Conference rival Theodore Roosevelt April 18 before heading to Kent to play Roosevelt April 20. Both contests are scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m.

Tallmadge is scheduled to entertain Orrvillle in a doubleheader April 22. First pitch is set for 11 a.m.
