The Hudson boys tennis team finished sixth at the eight-team St. Edward Invitational April 8 at Paramount Tennis Club in Westlake.
Cleveland St. Ignatius won the competition and Westlake and Perrysburg placed second and third, respectively. Team scores were not available.
The Explorers' team of Wendell Wu and Spencer Rodgers earned a 6-4, 6-7, 1-0 win over a duo from Toledo St. Francis DeSales to finish third in the second doubles' flight.
Hudson's team of Nicci Polifrone and David Tullett scored an 8-3 victory to finish fifth in the first doubles' flight.
The Explorers suffered their first loss of the season April 6.
Host Hudson dropped to 3-1 in 2017 after losing to Walsh Jesuit 4-1.
The Explorers lost two 1-0 third-set tiebreakers. Polifrone earned a 6-0, 6-0 victory at second singles for Hudson's lone win.
The Explorers were scheduled to visit Suburban League National Conference rival Cuyahoga Falls April 10. Results were not available at press time.
Hudson is set to entertain National Conference foe Stow-Munroe Falls April 12 and Solon April 13. Both matches are scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
