Cuyahoga Falls head girls track and field coach Dan Scourfield wasn't disappointed with his team's performance in its last two meets.

At the same time, he knows his Lady Black Tigers can achieve much greater success.

"We ran OK, but not great," Scourfield said. "We threw OK and not great and we jumped OK. We didn't do anything really well."

Falls dropped to 0-2 overall and 0-2 in the Suburban League National Conference after suffering an 88-49 defeat to host Wadsworth April 4 at Art Wright Stadium.

"We left some points out there," Scourfield said.

Jackie Shields, on the other hand, left no points on the track.

She won the 200-meter race with a time of 28.8 seconds, the long jump (15 feet, 4 inches) and the pole vault (no measurement given).

Shields also joined Kaitlin Wilson, Katlyn Long and De'Vine Shelton on the winning 800 relay (1:56).

The other first-place finish came from Sarah Wyatt (17.7) in the 100 hurdles.

Three Lady Black Tigers took second.

They were Emily Zimmerman (5:45) in the 1,600; Kayla Huffman (2:36) in the 800; and Longfellow (56.7) in the 300 hurdles.

Longfellow also took second (58.3) in the 300 hurdles and third (18.7) in the 100 hurdles. Wyatt added a third (58.3) in the 300 hurdles.

Falls finished third with 78 points at the seven-team Frank Longstreth Relays April 1 at Western Reserve Academy in Hudson.

Akron Archbishop Hoban won the competition with 108 points and Alliance Marlington took second with 80 points.

The Lady Black Tigers reached the winner's circle in two distance races. The 6,400 relay team of Zimmerman, Chelsea Huffman, Kayla Huffman and Valerie Deighton crossed the finish line in 24:11.

Also victorious was the distance medley unit of Kristica Barnett, Alivia Hamric, Zimmerman and Kayla Huffman in 14:16.

There is still a long way to go, but Scourfield is still trying to figure out which direction his team is heading.

"I don't know," he said. "We have girls coming back from vacation. We also have a lot of freshmen we're counting on."

Falls was scheduled to compete at the Rough Rider Invitational April 7. Results were not available at press time.

The Lady Black Tigers are set to host National Conference rival Hudson April 10 at the Laybourne Sports Complex. The competition is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.

Falls is set to compete at the Big Ox Invitational April 15 at St. Thomas Aquinas in Louisville. The meet is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m.
