Aurora High senior Korie Hobbs tallied 11 points and April Davis added 2 in a Women's Tri-County Basketball Coaches Association all-star game last week between Portage County and Akron City players. Portage won 58-48. AHS head coach Erika Greenberg was picked this year's coach of the year by the association.

Matmen compete

Several Harmon School wrestlers competed in the OAC Junior High State Wrestling Championships recently in Youngstown. While none placed in the top eight out of their 64-man brackets, Robbie Sagaris, Anthony Sagaris, Jeffrey Burger and Charlie Guinn won a number of matches.

Huffman tallies 7

Aurora resident Grant Huffman tallied 7 points in Lakewood St. Edward's 75-64 Division I boys basketball state semifinal loss to Massillon Jackson. The latter went on to claim the Division I title over Cincinnati Moeller 39-38.

Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary (Division II), Villa Angela St. Joseph (Division III) and Lutheran East (Division IV) also won boys state basketball crowns.

ABL meetings set

A coaches meeting and equipment pickup for Aurora Baseball League teams willbe April 3 at Harmon School's commons. Parents with players on ABL teams should meet April 10 at Harmon School as follows: T-ball, rookie and coach pitch at 6 p.m. and juniors, minors and majors at 7.
