WRA hockey reaches IHSL title game

The Western Reserve Academy ice hockey team concluded its season at the Independent School Hockey League Tournament Feb. 25 at Shady Side Academy in Pittsburgh.

The Pioneers, who finished 8-17, lost to Kiski 7-3 in the championship game.

Zach Mandry scored all three goals. The game was tied at three late in the second period, but Kiski scored a power-play goal and then scored three unanswered goals in the third period to put it away.

Reserve goaltender Noah Goad made 37 saves in between the pipes.

WRA reached the title game with a 7-5 victory over Sewickley (Pa.). Henry Harkins scored twice and Mandry, Brett Erskine, Danny LaFontaine, Tommy Wagner and Jad Darwich each scored once.

Pioneers' goalie Nate Hopkins made 8 saves.
