The Hudson wrestling team improved to 9-5 on the season after posting a 39-28 victory over Crestwood Feb. 9 in Mantua.

Crestwood 132-pounder Dominic Szuhay opened the match with a 5-0 win over Hudson’s Aiden Fultz, but the Explorers answered with a pin from 138-pounder Ben Jackson in 4 minutes, 50 seconds.

Red Devils senior 145-pounder Zac Brunty made good on his final match at Crestwood, scoring a 10-2 major decision over Hudson’s John Sweet.

However, after Vespucci’s forfeit win, the Explorers took control with four straight wins.

First, 160-pounder Austin Mullen got four takedowns to score a 9-2 win over Crestwood’s Alex Kachenko.

Then, Hudson 170-pounder Michael Caniglia used some good counterwrestling to score an 8-5 decision over Lucas Gerardi.
Explorers’ senior 182-pounder Kyle Minor did his job by pinning Thomas Carson in 1:28.

Hudson first-year senior Jared Cole used a half nelson to score a pin 3:58 over Crestwood’s Cameron Langford.
Crestwood senior 220-pounder CJ Novotny ended the run with a 5-2 win.

After the two teams traded forfeits, Explorers’ 113-pounder Nicci Polifrone scored a 4-1 win.

Needing a big result to keep the match alive, Crestwood 120-pounder John Ondash came through with a pin in 1:50, cutting Hudson’s lead to 33-28.

However, Explorers’ 126-pounder Dietrich Boysel clinched the match with a pin in 1:10 over Crestwood’s Aiden Morgenstern.
