The Western Reserve Academy boys and girls swimming and diving teams competed at the Junior Varsity Championship Meet Feb. 4 at Canton McKinley High School's C.T. Branin Natatorium.
The following Pioneers placed in the top eight:
Boys
• 200-yard medley relay: Phillip Kuri, Colton Zampelli, Jaret Skonieczny and Jaxson Bick, second, 1 minute, 56.92 seconds
• 200 freestyle: Bick, third, 2:11.02
• 50 freestyle: Will Downing, first, 23.97
• 100 butterfly: Skonieczny, fourth, 1:01.16
• 100 freestyle: Downing, second, 53.31
• 500 freestyle: Josh Rogers, second, 5:27.71
• 200 freestyle relay: Bick, Skonieczny, Zampelli and Downing, first, 1:39.87
• 100 backstroke: Kuri, third, 1:03.67; Rogers, fourth, 1:05.01; and Brandt Aker, seventh, 1:08.47
• 400 freestyle relay: Rogers, Aker, Kuri and Downing, fourth, 3:52.83
Girls
• 200 medley relay: Katie Elkind, Libby Russ, Katie Weinzierl and Maggie Corl, fourth, 2:06.55
• 50 freestyle: Adjoa Tettey-Fio, fourth, 26.82; and Alicia Ma, fifth, 27.12
• 100 freestyle: Katie Weinzierl, fifth, 59.93
• 200 freestyle relay: Russ, Corl, Ma and Tettey-Fio, second, 1:49.92
• 100 breaststroke: Russ, third, 1:15.53; and Weinzierl, eighth, 1:18.76
Both teams are scheduled to conclude their seasons at the Eastern Championships Feb. 24 and 25 at Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, Pa.
