It had been over 20 days since the Twinsburg High ice hockey team had officially hit the ice to play a contest.
The young Tigers fell 5-3 at Parma Normandy Jan. 8. The last game for Twinsburg was Dec. 18.
Twinsburg was blanked 2-0 in the first period by the Invaders and trailed 4-1 after two periods on the road.
"We came out a little flat after a long layoff for the holidays," explained veteran Twinsburg head coach Jim DiRosa.
Hannah Zochowski posted 31 saves for the Tigers. Alexis Ryan had 28 saves for the Invaders.
A penalty play goal by Damon Bennardo at the 5:45 mark of the second period cut the Normandy lead to 2-1.
Bennardo was assisted by Daniel Kosmin and Troy Sutliffe for the Tigers, but Normandy continued to attack.
"We need to jam the net for rebounds and their goalie [Ryan] played well," said DiRosa.
Twinsburg's final goal came at the 4:51 mark of the third period and also was a penalty play goal by Ryan DiRosa.
DiRosa's tally was assisted by Alex Shood and Nick Whitelaw.
In upcoming action, the Tigers host Chesterland West Geauga Jan. 14 at the Dan Kostel Ice Arena and play Jan. 21 vs. Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy at the Kent State Ice Arena.
