The Twinsburg boys and girls bowling teams are showing improvement as evidenced by the action at the Eye of The Tiger Tournament Dec. 17 hosted by the Tigers.

In girls action at Twinsburg, the Lady Tigers captured second place at Roseland Lanes, while the boys placed seventh in a strong field.

Twinsburg's girls squad also has put up impressive numbers and the boys showed strides at the North Olmsted tournament as well as the Norton Panther Challenge.

The Tigers' effort was big at the Eagle Challenge in North Olmsted Dec.11. Twinsburg placed first and won a team title.

"The Lady Tiger team rolled to a first place finish at the 2016 Eagle Challenge," said head coach Ron Fruscella. "The Tigers were led by junior Tyahana Elder who won top individual honors."

"Senior Nicole Bekesz was not too far behind Tyahana and took third overall," noted the coach.

Elder had a 560 series while Bekesz rolled a 541 series.

"Taylor Paoletti, Jocelyn Botta, Corrinne Botta and Elizabeth Snow all pitched in with solid performances to help the Lady Tigers to their first tournament victory of the year," said Fruscella.

"The ladies competed on tough lane conditions that aren't normally seen until the state tournament," he added. "This is always one of the best fields to compete against and begin to get ready for the heat of the season."

Fruscella said that North Olmsted does a good job of bringing in high level teams to compete against and put down a challenging lane condition.

"We are starting to bowl a little better," he said. "The ladies have gotten off to kind of a slow start this year, but the girls are starting to settle into their roles."

Seniors Emily Cook, and Grace Prorok where unable to attend this tournament but both have contributed nicely as well this year.

The boys squad, coached by veteran mentor Anthony Bird, has been paced by Kaleb East.

George Baynard and James Pope have also contributed for the Tigers along with Riley Wilson, Simon Dale, Josh Kormanec 135-132, and Cameron Eyink, among others.

Twinsburg meets Copley Dec. 22 at Roseland Lanes at 4 p.m.
