Kent Roosevelt girls soccer has endured a lot of hardship this fall.

Yet after the first half Oct. 17, the Rough Riders looked they might have a chance to win their playoff opener.

Playing with the wind at their backs, Roosevelt took a 1-0 lead to halftime over Stow-Munroe Falls at Bulldog Stadium.

In the second half, however, the Bulldogs were unleashed.

Five second-half goals completely the turned the contest around, as Stow scored a 5-1 win in the Division I playoff opener for both teams.

Stow improved to 8-3-6 and advanced to face Twinsburg Oct. 20 in a sectional final game. Roosevelt finished the season at 2-13-1.

The breakthrough came in the 31st minute off a free kick for Roosevelt.

Kendra Kline sent a ball into box, which bounced over the defense. Kayla Fischer found the loose ball and headed it home on the back post, making it 1-0 at halftime.

Stow coach Nate Rausch he didn't make too many adjustments at the half, other then implore his players to pick up the intensity.

Sophomore forward Theresa Parr heeded the call.

In the 47th minute, Parr stole a bouncing ball from the Roosevelt defense and smashed it into the met to make it 1-1.

Less than 90 seconds later, Stow had the lead.

After taking a feed from Maddie Marino, Stow forward Emily Andrassy cut into the box and curled a high shot over Roosevelt goalie Liz Hartung.

Stow kept coming, out-shooting Roosevelt 9-0 in the second half.

Andrassy scored her second in the 68th minute. She turned a ball into the net from the near post after Parr lofted a ball in from then end line.

Two goals in the two minutes seal the win for the Bulldogs.

In the 74th minute, Hannah Riddle made a nice cut at the box of the box and fired a low shot into the net to make it 4-1.

Then in the 75th, Andrassy returned the favor to Parr, setting her up for a lofted shot in the box which found the side net.

Hartung finished with five saves. Bulldogs goalie Amanda Holocker finished with two saves.
