Harmon CC competes

Harmon School's boys cross country team placed sixth out of 23 teams in the Stow Bulldog Invitational at Silver Springs Park on Oct. 8, while the girls placed 11th out of 25 teams.

Boys results were: Matt Singleton, 11th in 11:30; Spencer Baldwin, 19th in 11:50.93; Gavin Kane, 25th in 12:01.96; Aidan Sandstrom, 43rd in 12:16.03; Max Manderbach, 53rd in 12:20.46; Hayden Hall, 58th in 12:23.97; and Jimmy Mehallis, 60th in 12:26.24.

Girls results were: Morgan Schmitt, ninth in 12:29.4; Ila Kerchenski, 29th in 13:09.03; Victoria Blechschmid, 41st in 12:34.4; Lilly Bates, 92nd in 14:26; Faith Bulone, 121st in 15:02.27; Faith Carlson, 129th in 15:12.42; and Melanie Keller, 139th in 15:23.51.

In the Gate Mills Land Conservancy's Race for the Green, Aurora resident Sarah Zarlinga placed fourth in women 35-39 in 35:46 and Joe Zarlinga placed seventh in men 40-44 in 32:32.

In the Smile and Dash event, Cortni Gaffney placed second in the women 30-39 group in 26:20.8.

In the Chagrin Film Fest 5K, Jimmy Mehallis placed second in men 14-16 in 20:41.9, while his mother Debbie was first in women 50-59 in 23:44.3.

In the Willoughby Hills Wellness Run, Anthony Fiorille placed third in men 16 to 22 in 23:04.

In the Epilepsy Association eRace 5k, Jon Koslo placed 11th in men 30-39 in 29:13.4, Robert Donohue placed 15th in men 40-49 in 1:04:03.7 and Carol Donohue placed 16th in women 40-49 in 1:01:46.1.

In the Love A Nurse RuN, Jackie Nero placed 31st in women 45-49 in 1:02:43.9.

According to the Northern Ohio Golf Association website, the following won club championships this year at two local golf clubs: Scott Brubaker at Barrington and Doug Hauenstein at Club Walden.

Standings in softball

The final regular season standings for Aurora Parks-Recreation's fall coed softball league are:

Lakeside Terrace/Camelot Village and Carlton Yarnell Chipping 16-0, Holy Crap 12-4, Dream Killers (Rav's) 10-6, Doogan's 9-7, Tri-County Power Tool, Indians and T Jay's Collision Center 7-9, Cleats and Cleveage 6-10, Goonies 4-12, Pipeline Inspection Services 2-14 and Some-Mitt 0-16.

Postseason tournament games are scheduled for Oct. 14 and 21 at the Sunny Lake Park fields.

The Tuesday men's league's final tourney games were to be played Oct. 11, but results were not available by press time.

Teams still in contention for the title were T.L. Service Center (Carriage Windows), Darko, Junkyard Dogs, Mantua Corners, Great Lakes Valet and Christmas Ale Club.

WRYFL playoffs start

Playoffs are coming up in the Western Reserve Youth Football League. Auorra's first-round gams are: Oct. 15 -- Green varsity at Twinsburg White at 2:30 p.m.; Oct. 16 -- Streetsboro Blue at White varsity at 1 p.m., Gold varsity at Nordonia Green at 1 p.m. and Nordonia White JVs at Green at 2:30 p.m.

Final regular season standings involving Aurora teams in the league are: varsity -- White 6-0, Green 3-3 and Gold 1-5; JVs-- Green 5-1.
