Staff report

The host Hudson girls soccer team dropped to 7-5-2 on the season after losing to Columbus Bishop Watterson 3-1 Oct. 8 at Hudson Memorial Stadium.

"We lost to a very good team," Lady Explorers' first-year head coach Chris Gentille said. "We gave up two of our three goals off corners. We did not do well defending in preventing corners.

Jordan Manley tied the game at one for Hudson in the first 12 seconds of the second half. Mia Becker had the assist.

"Mia Becker connected with Jordan Manley on a great goal," Gentille said. "We kept the momentum going for another five to 10 minutes, but we couldn't get back on track.

"I thought we played really well in the first half, connecting and moving the ball to create chances. The moments were just not frequent in the second half."

Lady Explorers' goalkeeper Lily Morgan made four saves in the nets. Watterson had a 7-5 advantage in shots on goal and a 12-4 edge in corner kicks.

Hudson is scheduled to entertain Suburban League National Conference rival Brecksville-Broadview Heights Oct. 12 at 7 p.m.

The Lady Explorers are set to conclude their regular season with a home date against Austintown-Fitch Oct. 15 at 3 p.m.

Hudson earned the third seed in the Kent Division I sectional-district tournament.

Defending state champion Walsh Jesuit received the top seed and Twinsburg and Stow-Munroe Falls got the second and fourth seeds, respectively.

Hudson earned an opening-round bye and is scheduled to host the Solon-Bainbridge Township Kenston winner in a sectional title game Oct. 20 at 7 p.m.
