The Hudson boys cross country team won the 13-team Mentor Cardinal Invitational Aug. 30.

The Explorers finished with 59 points. Mentor took second with 66 points and Medina captured third (74).

Hudson's Kyle Mau placed first out of 106 runners with a time fo 16 minutes, .41 seconds.

He beat his nearest competitor, Chardon Notre Dame Cathedral Latin's Mick Stanovsek (16:11.4) by nearly 11 seconds.

Gavin Gaynor was next for the Explorers with a ninth-place time of 16:51.09. Teammate Blake Roberts finished 11th (17:00.4).

Rounding out the top five for Hudson were Connor Sinko (17th, 17:14.62) and Matthew Hallgarth (21st, 17:19.15).
